Former Bobcat and Wizard Javaris Crittenton has been charged with murder following the Aug. 19 shooting of an Atlanta woman. Crittenton may be best known as the second Wizard along with Gilbert Arenas suspended for bringing guns into the locker room during the 2009-10 season.

Police Spokesman Carlos Campos said Friday that the police have secured a warrant for Crittenton’s arrest. Investigators say the victim ‘€“ 22-year-old Jullian Jones, mother of four ‘€“ likely was not the intended target, and Campos said the motive may be related to an April robbery in which Crittenton was the victim.

Atlanta police Maj. Keith Meadows told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday night that the FBI is involved in the investigation. The police believe Crittenton to be in the Los Angeles area, Meadows said.

The Lakers drafted Crittenton in 2007, then traded him during his rookie season to the Grizzlies.

The Wizards traded for him in December 2008, and he played with them through the 2009-10 season, when he was suspended for the final 38 games by the NBA for the gun incident. The Wizards did not re-sign him for the 2010-11 season, and Crittenton signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Bobcats.

Charlotte waived Crittenton before the season started, and he played briefly in China before joining the Developmental League.

In 113 NBA games, Crittenton averaged 5.3 points and 1.8 assists.
